Here, Dr Matt Milbourn and Karen Milbourn highlight the value in maintaining a professional approach throughout the dental practice sale process.
Which consultant at Dental Elite did you work with? Were they in regular contact?
We worked with Sue Humphrey primarily. She was brilliant – not only was she patient, approachable and easy to talk to, but she listened, reassured us and always got back to us during the sale. We cannot fault her.
How did you find the buffer between solicitors, buyer and seller?
The sale of our practice took over 3 years to complete and without Sue’s perseverance, it could have possibly taken longer, although the COVID-19 pandemic certainly didn’t help matters. I think Sue was as frustrated as we were with the poor communication from our buyer’s solicitor, but she maintained her professionalism and kept going, eventually getting a response from them on numerous occasions.
What was your experience of the overall sale process?
It has been very frustrating and, at times, stressful. This has not been down to Sue or the rest of the Dental Elite team, but the system in general and the fact that we just couldn’t get everything co-ordinated into place at the same time. Our buyer also made last minute decisions, but we got there in the end.
What advice would you give future sellers?
Good, honest communication is key to a successful sale.
Would you recommend Dental Elite?
Yes. Dental Elite was great at communicating with us, from the valuation stage through to completion. It is a good team of people who communicate well with each other to facilitate the sale process and make it as smooth as possible. I would like to express my thanks to Sue and the Dental Elite team. During the sale, there were times that I moaned and complained about what was happening, but Sue was always there to listen, sympathise and reassure. She did so very well and was professional throughout.
